Blooming Tapestry was a calendar of transition for me — both to a new format and a new world. At the time, I moved from St Petersburg to Thailand: from a restrained, graphic, northern city to a world of tropical light, bright colors, and unfamiliar plants.

The calendar changed along with my surroundings. The scale I had worked at before suddenly felt too small. The original paintings grew to 56 × 76 cm, and watercolor became my main medium. Color was no longer an addition to the drawing; it began to shape the work itself.

I hadn’t planned this change. The larger scale, watercolor, and a completely different palette appeared almost at the same time — and the result surprised even me. Blooming Tapestry became not just a new calendar, but the beginning of a new stage in my work.
