Inside the Calendar

IN THE STUDIO

STORY

The idea of drawing birds and insects had always been with me, and this calendar finally gave it a place to unfold.

It is the only calendar in the series that was published not by me, but by a major publishing house, Mann, Ivanov and Ferber. Because of that, it became quite different from all the others. Every page is printed on both sides, and instead of covering a single year, the calendar spans eighteen months—from January 2020 through June 2021.

Working with a publisher was an interesting and valuable experience, but it also made me realize how much I enjoyed creating my calendars independently. After this edition, I returned to self-publishing.

The birds, however, were only just beginning their journey. They have continued to appear in many of my later works and remain one of my favorite subjects to this day.
